Hera Neo is the latest medical laser hair removal technology, offering four wavelengths and based on the thermobiological effect. The laser energy absorbed by the hair follicles causes a rise in temperature, preventing hair growth and resulting in permanent hair removal. Hera Neo stands out for its unrivalled energy, rapid hair treatment and permanent healing effect.

The 755 nm Alexandrite laser is ideal for light, fine hair, thanks to its exceptional absorption by melanin.

The 808 nm Diode laser offers high power for deep penetration into hair follicles, suitable for slightly darker skin tones.

The new 940 nm Diode laser penetrates deep and is absorbed by the target chromophore, guaranteeing targeted thermal damage.

The 1064 nm Yag laser is perfect for dark to black skin because of its low melanin absorption and ability to penetrate deep into the hair follicle.

To guarantee your comfort throughout treatment, Hera Neo is equipped with an exceptional cooling system that maintains a temperature of -20°C, ensuring a pleasant experience…

What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is based on eliminating hair at its root by destroying the hair follicle. To achieve this, the hair must be loaded with melanin, i.e. colored hair.

The heat produced by the laser, which oscillates between 1 and 30 joules, accumulates in the hair bulb, destroying the hair by the root.

This technique delivers powerful, deep thermo-coagulation of the hair root, resulting in permanent hair removal from the treated area.

Destroyed hairs do not grow back. We call this permanent or long-lasting hair removal.

The skin absorbs less heat and remains unharmed. What’s more, we use a skin surface cooling system. This technique makes treatment painless.

Generally speaking, 6 to 8 sessions are required for lasting results.

What is the best laser for permanent hair removal?

Today, there are different types of laser, the best-known being the alexandrite laser, which is most suitable for light hair on light skin.

This type of laser emits 755nm red laser beams to rapidly destroy the melanin in your hair.

The Yag Laser is the specialist for dark to black skin types (phototypes V and VI). This laser delivers 1064nm laser beams for better skin absorption. With this laser technology, we can safely treat even the darkest to blackest skins, avoiding any risk of burns.

The 808 nm Diode laser offers high power and a fast repetition rate for deep penetration into the hair follicle. for rapid processing. This wavelength is suitable for slightly darker skins.

The new 940 nm Diode laser penetrates deeply and is absorbed by the target chromophore. Pulse duration and energy density, combined with epidermal cooling, ensure targeted thermal damage without affecting tissue. This type of laser is perfect for skin types III and IV.

At Novaskin Clinic Brussels, we have opted for new technology. Our HERA NEO medical laser (CE Medical) is equipped with all 4 technologies.

This enables us to work effectively on all skin types (I to VI) and all hair types (except white).

Our 4-wavelength laser works at different depths to give you optimum results in complete safety.

When should I start laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal treatments can be started at any time of the year and on any area.

In fact, even if the warm weather has already arrived, our protocol and follow-up enable us to treat you during the summer months.

Our program sessions are spaced between 8 and 14 weeks apart. This allows you to spend a summer without having to think about shaving or waxing.

Ideally, start your sessions in autumn or winter. You’ll be ready for next summer, and won’t have to worry about your facial hair when your treatment is over.

How does laser hair removal work?

First of all, it’s important to make a free appointment at our clinic. A laser practitioner with expertise in permanent hair removal will advise you and explain the Novaskin Clinic protocol.

Based on your requirements and needs, a personalized hair assessment is carried out. This is based on your age, the area of your body you wish to remove, your hair growth and your medical history.

Our expert guides you through your hair removal project.

It’s very important to us that you pay close attention to protocol and procedure in order to achieve the best results. That’s why consultation is so important.

What’s more, before you start your sessions, we provide you with a protocol so that you always have the essential information to hand.

The day before your session, it’s important to shave the area to be treated so that the hair is as short as possible and highly charged with melanin.

On the day of your session, depending on your skin and hair type, the laser practitioner will adjust the laser to suit you. This ensures optimum results.

Protective eyewear must be worn at every session and throughout the session. We apply a contact gel to improve the bond between your hair and the laser, and to make it easier for the laser to scan your skin.

Sessions are painless, fast and effective. Each session removes 20% of your body hair.

After the session, the skin may show some redness and swelling around the hairs. These then begin to fall off between 10 and 15 days after your laser session.

Beyond this phase, there will be a phase of no regrowth, with no hair growth for up to 6 weeks. The remaining hairs will start to grow back slowly and less frequently.

It will then be time to schedule another appointment at Novaskin Clinic.

What's the right budget for laser hair removal?

Laser treatment is now within everyone’s reach. With Novaskin Clinic, you can take advantage of our 6 sessions + 2 free package, with the option of paying in instalments at no extra charge from €18/month.

Example: Underarm package 6 sessions + 2 free at €31.4/month.

Does laser hair removal really work?

The 4-wavelength HERA NEO laser used by Novaskin clinic is 90% effective on black, brown, chestnut and blond hair.

On average, 6 to 8 sessions are required for optimum results. Fine, white downy hair cannot be treated, as it is not loaded with melanin.

Laser hair removal is considered permanent or progressively definitive. Laser treatment eliminates hair, but does not prevent the growth of a few new, finer and lighter hairs after a few years in hormonal areas.

New hair on hormonal areas remains isolated, and the patient will never regain his or her original hair growth.

We recommend 1-2 maintenance sessions once a year.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

At Novaskin Clinic, laser hair removal is painless. In fact, thanks to the -20°C intense cooling system integrated into our medical laser, your sessions will be painless.

However, you may feel a sensation of discomfort caused by the transformation of the laser flashes on contact with your hair.

Is laser hair removal dangerous?

Laser hair removal is considered a medical aesthetic treatment. Every treatment has its risks. To avoid any risk, you need to turn to experts trained and experienced in long-lasting laser hair removal.

A preliminary consultation is mandatory in order to diagnose the treatment. Before proceeding with your first session, a few safety flash tests are recommended.

Risks of burns and temporary skin depigmentation are very rare. What’s more, according to several medical studies, exposure to laser beams is too short to constitute a danger to the skin and body.

We inform and document the mandatory safety rules to be followed before and after your treatment.

Does hair that falls out after a laser session grow back?

After a laser hair removal session, the hair falls out in the weeks following treatment. In general, between 10 and 15 days after the session.

It’s important to know that 20% of your hair will be permanently destroyed at each session, in the anagen phase.

There are 3 types of hair:

  • Anagen hairs: The “anagen” phase is the phase of hair growth. This hair growth is continuous. The anagen phase is also called “youth”, when the root is at its largest. Laser treatment to reach the bulb and prevent regrowth is ideal at this stage. Note that 20% of hairs are in the anagen phase during each cycle.
  • Catagen hair: The “catagen” phase is the shortest phase of the hair cycle, the “old age” phase. This is the beginning of the transition: the hair stops growing but is not detached from the root. Melanin production in these areas stops. In this case, the laser will not be erased.
  • Telogen hair: The “telogen” phase, or death, is a stage in which the bulb is at cellular rest. In other words, the hair is not yet growing or falling out. The hair is detached from the root, ready to fall out and be replaced by a new hair (anagen). During this phase of the hair cycle, the hair is less pigmented (less melanin), so laser treatments are less effective. This telogen phase leads to hair loss.

After the non-regrowth phase, which can last up to 6 weeks, the 80% of hair not permanently destroyed at the previous session will grow back more slowly and finer. 20% of her hair will be treated at the next session.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Laser hair removal is considered permanent or progressively definitive.

The laser eliminates hair, but does not prevent the growth of a few new, finer and lighter hairs after a few years in hormonal areas.

New hair on hormonal areas remains isolated, and the patient will never regain his or her original hair growth. We recommend 1-2 maintenance sessions once a year.

What is a hormonal zone?

A hormonal zone is an area that is more sensitive to the body’s hormonal flow.

For these reasons, new hair growth is possible even after a greater number of sessions, and the result is less perfect. You’ll need to make a few alterations over the years.

Moreover, shaving these areas is strongly discouraged to avoid developing heavier hair growth. Special clippers are available to trim rather than shave your hair the day before the session.

The hormonal zones in women are:

  • Upper lip of the face
  • Menton
  • Neck
  • Neck
  • Favourites
  • Cheeks
  • Breasts
  • Back
  • Belly band
  • Genital lips
  • Thighs.

The hormonal zones in men are:

  • Torso
  • Belly
  • Shoulders
  • Back
  • Genitals

What are the contraindications?

Before starting any treatment, the first consultation will identify any contraindications listed below:

  • Not pregnant.
  • Do not wear a pacemaker.
  • Do not take photosensitizing medication.
  • Do not expose the treated area to UV light or sunlight 4 weeks before treatment and 1 week afterwards.
  • Do not take self-tanners, tanning capsules, self-tanning showers, etc. And this 3 weeks before the session.

Are there any risks or side effects?

Risks such as burns, blisters or infections like folliculitis are fairly rare, but can happen.

Of course, all this is reversible. At Novaskin Clinic, our protocol is strict and secure in order to avoid the appearance of undesirable effects.

Side-effects such as pimples, irritation and heat may occur up to several days after laser treatment.

What’s more, we can sometimes observe small spots in the weeks following laser treatment, especially in the case of tanned skin, but these do not last very long.

There is also a rare phenomenon in hormonal areas that can accentuate hair growth. This phenomenon is called paradoxical regrowth.

At Novaskin Clinic, our CE medical laser is equipped with cutting-edge technology to ensure that such cases are avoided as far as possible. This phenomenon is often the result of hormonal imbalance.

In this case, we invite you to have a hormonal check-up before continuing your sessions.

What’s most important at Novaskin Clinic is personal attention to each and every one of you.

What's the difference between laser and pulsed light?

The laser uses a powerful beam of energy (radiation) of one or more wavelengths to destroy the hair root in a targeted, permanent way. It is therefore a permanent hair removal method.

Pulsed light (IPL or SHR) emits several wavelengths of threaded light, but the energy is lower. As the result is not definitive, we are talking about long-lasting hair removal. The treatment should be repeated every 3 or 4 years, depending on the regeneration of bulbs not eradicated during the initial treatment.
